BLE 407- SEI for Secondary Students

In this introductory course, pre-service teachers will explore, critique, adn reflect on theory ad teacher practice that relates to teaching children who are learning ENglish as a second language. The purpose is to prepare teachers for ethnically diverse classrooms in which there are students learning English as a second language and to meet the requierments for the completion hours of the Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement for students graduating on or after August 31, 2006. These areas include: ELL Proficiency Standards, Data Analysis, Formal and Infromal Assessment Objectives, SEI foundations, SEI strategies, and Parent/Home Scaffolding.
