SED 396- Clinical Field Experience I
Face-to-Face Seminar Meetings: This course meets bi-weekly or 8 times. During thesemeetings, interns debrief their clinical experience and make connections between courseworkand classroom practice. Interns develop knowledge and skills needed to become proficient atlesson planning. Interns are introduced to the TAP Instructional Rubric and the collegeProfessionalism Rubric.
Internship: This course requires 1 full day per week of internship in a 7-12 grade generaleducation classroom for a minimum of 12 weeks AND a minimum of 75 hours. Interns areexpected to follow their Intern Mentor Teacher‟s contract hours. The internship component provides opportunities for interns to engage as a teacher and learner. In these settings, internsobserve and interact with students one-to-one, in small groups, and as a whole class. Clinical experience emphasizes focused observation, co-planning with a placement teacher, and co-teaching. The clinical placement provides a setting for applied projects required by concurrenteducation coursework in Block 1 (Term 5) of the Professional Teacher Preparation Program.
