"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." -George Santayana
EDP 313-Childhood & Adolescence
This course covers the principles underlying three developmental domains of children and teens (aged 9 to 18): physical, intellectual, and social/emotional development. Selected aspects of adolescent development and classroom considerations for middle and high school teachers will be emphasized. Teachers will understand the appropriate expectations for the development of their students by focusing on research and developmental theory. Students will think critically about this period of life and consider stereotypes about teen behaviour. Culture, class, and gender will be threads running throughout the course.
