SED 480- Methods for Teaching Social Studies
The goal of this course is to provide you with knowledge of history and, in the broader sense, social studies concepts and teaching methodology to equip you with the skills to apply those concepts to decision-making in school settings. We will explore the best pedagogical practices for teaching history, government, economics, and geography in middle and high school settings. The course has both process and content components. The content includes the Arizona Social Study Standard and concepts. During this semester you will teach lessons in your Internship classroom and collaborate with your mentor teacher to prepare you for student teaching. This is the course that will prepare you with the knowledge and skills for your future profession as a social studies teacher.
