RDG 323- Literacy Process/ Content Areas
This three-credit course will explore how reading, writing, speaking/discussing, listening, viewing, representing and technology are tools for thinking and learning across the curriculum. The focus of this course is on strategies for improving literacy and learning for adolescent students in the content areas. This course is designed for pre-service teachers who are involved in field experiences prior to student teaching full time. Through practice, class readings and activities, students are expected to be able to answer the following questions:

How might students use reading, writing, speaking/discussing, listening, viewing, representing and technology as tools for learning content knowledge in my classroom?

How can I help students become better readers, writers, speakers, listeners, viewers and representers without neglecting content?

How can I help promote higher level thinking opportunities within my content area?
